Federal pandemic plan: wear masks, stay home, keep your distance

Fox News is reporting on the White House’s plan to keep us save from a flu or other pandemic:

Employers should have plans to keep workers at least three feet apart, colleges should consider which dormitories could be used to quarantine the sick, and flight crews should have surgical masks to put on coughing travelers under a draft of the government’s pandemic flu plan...

The report says that “institutions in danger of becoming overwhelmed will rely on the voluntarism and sense of civic and humanitarian duty of ordinary Americans.” If that is true, then why do we even need a 228-page report?

The article also points out that there could be “restrictions on movement” and that the National Guard might also get in on the action in case there are “breakdowns in public order” (reminds me of New Orleans...). I feel safer already.

We’ll teach those diseases not to mess with the power of the U.S. Government.

Non-political, non-partisan, and non-PC, we advocate a radical shift in the intellectual climate, away from statism and toward a private property order. We believe that our foundational ideas are of permanent value, and oppose all efforts at compromise, sellout, and amalgamation of these ideas with fashionable political, cultural, and social doctrines inimical to their spirit.
